What should you do if you find explosives?

If you find explosives, do not touch them – phone the police.


No-one is allowed to store explosives without a licence. However, you may still find illegal stores of explosives out in the open, or in barns, shelters or sheds anywhere in the country. These explosives can be extremely dangerous for children and anyone else who comes into contact with them.

Contact the police

If you come across explosives: Do not touch them, phone the police on 112. Make sure no-one else approaches the explosives until the police arrive and can take over.

Never move them

You must never try to move explosives yourself. If a grenade or some old dynamite explodes, it can be fatal.
